CERTH Presented the scientific paper “An AI-Enabled Educational Framework for Sustainable Mobility and Green Manufacturing” at CSUM 2026

Representing CERTH, Dr. Afroditi Anagnostopoulou, Principal Researcher at CERTH/HIT, presented the scientific paper entitled “An AI-Enabled Educational Framework for Upskilling Workforce in Sustainable Mobility and Green Manufacturing” during the 8th Conference on Sustainable Mobility 2026 (CSUM 2026) on 1 July. The presentation attracted considerable interest by demonstrating how artificial intelligence can support the transformation of vocational education and lifelong learning to address emerging industrial skills needs.

The research draws on CERTH’s extensive experience in European research and innovation projects focusing on digital education, sustainable transport, smart manufacturing and workforce development. In particular, the proposed framework builds on methodologies developed within the WELDNET project, which aims to establish Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) supporting circular manufacturing, preventive maintenance and inclusive skills ecosystems across Europe. The framework incorporates innovative elements, including AI-supported learning analytics, micro-credential certification, personalised learning pathways, work-based learning and continuous skills assessment, contributing to more resilient and future-proof vocational education systems.

Participation in the 8th CSUM 2026 provided CERTH with an excellent opportunity to disseminate its latest research results, strengthen international scientific collaboration and exchange knowledge with researchers and experts working in the fields of sustainable mobility, digital transformation and innovative educational approaches. The conference also reinforced CERTH’s commitment to supporting the European Green Deal, the Digital Education Action Plan and lifelong learning initiatives through high-impact research and innovation.

CERTH continues to play an active role in developing advanced educational methodologies that connect research, innovation and industry, supporting Europe’s transition towards a more sustainable, digital and competitive economy while equipping the workforce with the skills required for the jobs of the future.
