femTUme is a professional and scientific women’s network of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at TU Wien. With the motto “We will continue to promote women until it is no longer necessary,” femTUme supports women across the faculty in their academic and professional development.
On 20 January, the annual femTUme Women’s Research Congress took place, providing a platform for exchange, networking, and the presentation of ongoing research projects. The congress opened with a keynote speech by Jackie / Andrea* Ida Malkah Klaura on feminist technoscience. This was followed by research presentations from doctoral candidates within the faculty. In addition, results from the faculty-wide study “What about Equality?” were presented, highlighting the experiences of students as well as academic and administrative staff in relation to gender equality.
Within the Research Unit of Production and Maintenance Management, we are proud to have a high percentage of women working in our team, including those involved in the WELDNET project.
Brenda Özyilmaz and Milena Mann used the congress as an opportunity to introduce WELDNET to colleagues from across the faculty. The project was presented via a poster and a concise two-minute introduction. Following the presentation, participants engaged in discussion and had the opportunity to ask questions. The overall response to the WELDNET project was very positive, reflecting strong interest from the femTUme community.
