The automotive industry is currently undergoing a massive paradigm shift, moving away from traditional linear production toward circular, digitalized, and human-centric models. To ensure regional competitiveness in this evolving landscape, ISIM Timișoara is spearheading the integration of regional partners into the WELDNET ecosystem.
A Hub for High-Tech Competencies
In collaboration with ISIM Timișoara, industrial actors in Western Romania are invited to develop a high-tech skills ecosystem focused on two critical pillars:
- Circular Material Welding (CMW): Moving beyond the “take-make-dispose” culture, this focus area prioritizes advanced joining techniques for recyclable alloys, remanufacturing to extend component lifecycles, and precision welding to minimize resource waste.
- Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS): Transitioning from reactive repairs to proactive resilience through AI-driven monitoring, automated diagnostics for enhanced operator safety, and energy waste reduction.

How to Get Involved
WELDNET offers multiple levels of engagement for regional companies looking to lead the industrial transition:
- Knowledge Exchange: Participate in dedicated workshops to help define and bridge the “skills gap” within the local automotive sector.
- Work-Based Learning (WBL): Access innovative pilot training modules and apprenticeship programs designed to upskill the workforce.
- Technical Validation: Test circular welding procedures and preventive maintenance protocols within real-world industrial environments.
By joining this network, regional partners become pillars of a socially safe, resilient and sustainable manufacturing future. Innovation in welding and maintenance is the backbone of the circular automotive economy and together with ISIM Timișoara, we are building the skills necessary to sustain it.
WELDNET Engages Industry Leaders During ISIM Technical Certifications
Following the strategic vision for a circular automotive sector, the WELDNET ecosystem has taken significant steps toward practical implementation. Throughout February 2026, ISIM Timișoara utilized its specialized training infrastructure to bridge the gap between theoretical research and industrial application.
During the professional certification courses hosted at ISIM Timișoara, project experts held a series of high-level presentations for attending industry partners. These sessions were strategically integrated into the courses for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) as follows: Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Visual Testing (VT).
The timing of these briefings provided a unique synergy. As regional specialists refined their skills in identifying weld defects, the WELDNET team demonstrated how Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS) and Circular Material Welding (CMW) protocols can elevate NDT from a simple quality check to a strategic tool for resource efficiency.
The integration of WELDNET principles into our specialized training courses ensures that the next generation of welding inspectors is not just technically proficient, but also ‘circular-ready’, equipped to lead the transition toward a zero-waste automotive industry.

What’s Next for Regional Partners?
The thrust generated in February continues. Companies that participated in the NDT briefings are now invited to move toward Technical Validation. This stage allows partners to implement and test WELDNET’s circular welding procedures within their own production lines, supported by ISIM’s expert technical oversight.By aligning technical certification with innovation in sustainability, Western Romania is positioning itself as a European leader in the Industry 5.0 movement.
