Circular Welding and Advanced Materials InnovationMeet in Timișoara

The European project WELDNET funded under the EU’s Erasmus+ programme, finds a natural point of convergence with the international conference TIMA26: Innovative Technologies for Joining Advanced Materials, organized annually by the National R&D Institute for Welding and Material Testing – ISIM Timișoara.

WELDNET brings together five European regions with strong industrial traditions, Central Macedonia (Greece), the West Region (Romania), a multi-regional consortium in Austria, Šumadija & Pomoravlje (Serbia), and Valencia (Spain), to build regional skills ecosystems in Circular Material Welding and Preventive Maintenance Systems for automotive manufacturing. In the Romanian ecosystem, ISIM Timișoara is a partner alongside SudoTim AS, contributing to initial and continuing vocational training for workers, including people with disabilities and members of vulnerable communities.

This mission connects directly with the goals of TIMA26 taking place 5–6 November 2026 at the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science of “Politehnica University Timișoara”, in hybrid format. The conference celebrates 56 years of tradition in welding and materials testing and covers topics closely aligned with WELDNET’s priorities: new materials and joining technologies, additive manufacturing and coatings, advanced materials joining (simulation, characterization, fracture mechanics) and nanoscience, nanotechnology and composites. Selected papers will be indexed in ISI or SCOPUS through publications such as Key Engineering Materials, Materials Science Forum, and Solid State Phenomena.

TIMA26 provides the international scientific platform through which future expertise in the field of circumferential welding and predictive maintenance, developed through the WELDNET project, can be validated, disseminated, and linked to cutting-edge research worldwide.

In this context, ISIM Timișoara, together with Politehnica University Timișoara and the Technical Sciences Academy of Romania – Timișoara Branch, invites researchers, academics, engineers, industry representatives, and partners of European projects, including the WELDNET community, to take part in TIMA26, either as paper authors, reviewers or sponsors. Abstract submissions are open until 30 September 2026, with full papers due by 23 October 2026. Registration details and the full programme are available at isim.ro/en/technological-transfer/tima/tima26.

Join us in Timișoara on 5–6 November 2026 for an event that brings together tradition and innovation in welding and materials testing!
